Friday FRAY: Broncos vs. Dolphins

Facts: How bad is the loss to the Rams last week? Very bad! Most likely, the Broncos will have to go on the road during the playoffs to get to the Super Bowl, and believe me the Broncos will not survive another trip to New England. The only game the Patriots are likely to lose is at Green Bay, other than that they will win out, so the Broncos need a minor miracle to obtain home field advantage, or perhaps an upset in their first playoff game. I can see the freshness date is coming due on Peyton Manning, and we’re all hoping to see John Fox’s photo on a milk carton.

Rumors: Do you know who Tyke Tolbert is? No? Me neither, but he should introduce himself to Cody Latimer. Latimer is the heir apparent to Wes Welker but has basically not seen any action this season, because he’s having trouble reading defenses. Tolbert you see is the Broncos wide receiver’s coach, maybe he should stay after school with Latimer and coach.

Anecdotes &: Peyton Manning defended his O-line, pointing out the difficulty in switching the group midstream. Does anyone really know why the O-Line is playing musical chairs? Unbelievably offensive coordinator Adam Gase, said he could help them with better play-calling. Nawh! Really! Better play calling? Gase couldn’t call a cab.

Yarns: At this point I’m not sure Brandon McManus could kick the chair out from under himself if he was trying to hang himself. This is the grownups table and for a team that’s only stated goal is to win the world championship to have a kicker they won’t let attempt a field goal over 50-yards, when most small colleges have someone who can do that, is unacceptable, and John Elway needs to address this situation before it costs them the Lombardi.

Film Review: The Better Angels
6 Stars out of 10

Life is hard in 1817 rural Indiana, and the struggle that faces a family is met each and every day. This is the story of the Lincoln family and young Abe’s shaping of a future president. This film is an unflinching look at what life is like trying to battle the elements and persevere, but if they are trying to show the tempering of a unrelenting spirit it just seemed to be another ordinary family and nothing extraordinary. I really did not learn anything about Abe Lincoln, but I did learn about the difficult life and time of a frontiersman.
